Pleated Blinds General information
Our pleated blinds are derived from the smallest 20mm fabric pleat that is available on the market, this enables us to incorporate a 20mm aluminium headrail ensuring that the minimum amount of space is consumed by the blind not only when it is lowered but also when it is drawn up into the unit where the resulting stack is minimal.
Size restrictions per unit are maximum at 1900mm (74") wide and 2500mm (98") drop, these limitations are due to the available piece size of the pleated fabric. Units over 1.9 metres in width would require a join and although this is possible the result is unsightly stack and reduced operation of the blind. As an alternative we recommend that multiple units are butted up against each other for the larger windows, usually glazed areas of this size have intermediate frame which provides the necessary background where the units meet.
Being the only blind that can be practically applied to conservatory roofs the pleated is very versatile and malleable allowing coverage of the shaped areas within the roof space. Although we would urge Customer's to take full advantage of the competitive supply only offers of our online ordering service especially when it comes to rectangular panels of the standard lean to conservatory, it is higtly recommended that you consider professional participation when it comes to the intricacies of shaped conservatory roofs. One of the main reasons that the majority of companies and individuals within the window blind trade decline to supply and fit roof blinds is that specialised skills are required not only in the manufacturing process but also measuring and fitting. Abbey staff need a minimum of 3 years, hands on, experience before they are allowed to even measure for conservatory roofs so please bear this in mind if you decide to go it alone.
Freehanging pleated blinds are extremely easy to hang, because of their small footprint they can be fitted in the tightest of situations and provide a simple out of the way solution. Because the headrail is 100% aluminium and sturdy brackets are fitted at no more that 1 metre intervals even if under tension. Whatever recess size that you provide to us will be reduced by 10mm overall as a completed blind size allowing for hardware and fitting so please remember to add this on if outside recess fitting or other considerations are required.
Within both freehanging and roof pleated units we incorporate a system known as equipleat® which is a ribbon that is tagged onto the rear of the fabric and ensures that, when open, the pleats remain constant and sharp preventing sag or mis-shaping. Also with both applications fabric is supported at no more than 18" intervals this means that holes are drilled and corded through in the case of freehanging and a combination of drilled, corded and supported when it comes to roof, dependant on the type of application chosen.
Again the choice of headrail colour is available with white, dark brown and tan supporting the commonly used window frames on the market, with a variety of colour matched brackets that come in several sizes and variations of usage dependant on the type of application and individuality of your windows.
Child safety becomes an issue with corded freehanging pleateds so cleat devices are essential. It is possible to reduce the hazard by incorporating tensioned units however the complete solution would be in the addition of a perfect fit frame which eliminates looped cord completely.
